Are you First? So are we.

At Lafayette, there are many first-generation college students, faculty, and staff. We recognize the thrill and challenge that can accompany being part of the first generation in one’s family to pursue a four-year college degree. Through the First-Generation Mentoring Program, we strive to connect first-gen students with faculty and staff for additional meaningful support, guidance, and perspective.

Who can participate?

The program is designed to provide support to:

First-generation students: students who are of the first generation in their family to pursue a four-year college degree, and international students who are the first in their family to pursue a four-year college degree in the United States.

Low-income or students from underrepresented backgrounds.

If you are interested in finding a mentor, or you are a first-gen faculty or staff member wanting to provide this important support and guidance, please complete the appropriate “STUDENT” or “MENTOR” form below. Someone from our office will be in touch with you soon! If you would like additional information, please email Abigail Schaffer at schaffab@lafayette.edu.
