What does being a first-gen student mean to you? 

First- gen to me means paving the way for those who will pursue their passions in my family after me. It means creating space for the young women in my culture and community to believe that pursuing higher education and pursuing their purpose is possible. 

Why are you excited to be a first-gen mentor?

I am excited to be a first-gen mentor because I want to help people and other first-gen students feel like they belong on this campus. I also want to grow as a leader on this campus and I think working as a mentor will help me in that process.
