What does being a first-gen student mean to you?

To me, it means carving a path for those who will come after me as well as bearing the responsibility of creating a space where those who will come after me are supported and encouraged to push through the hardships that they may face while on their journey. 

Why are you excited to be a first-gen mentor?

I am excited to help my mentee experience as a first-generation college student be exciting, as well as ensure that they are listened to and supported while on their journey.
