Alexis A. Smith

Dean Smith proudly represents Purple Pride, having earned her Master of Science degree from Kansas State University. She is a resident of NJ and earned her  undergraduate degree in English and Elementary Education at Saint Peter’s University, where she discovered her passion for student support. She has spent 18 plus years working in higher education advising and guiding first year students. Alexis began her career advising at Hudson County Community College. While at HCCC she also served and advocated for students with disabilities. Alexis has spent most of her career at St. John’s University where she served as a Freshman Advisor, specifically working with first year conditionally accepted students. During her time at St. John’s she continued to serve underrepresented students by becoming the Student Support Services Coordinator.

Seeking new challenges and new ways to help students, Alexis joined the Lafayette College team as the current First Year Dean. Alexis is passionate about helping students comfortably transition to college life, while motivating them to successfully achieve their educational and career goals.

Alexis is an aquaphile and avid swimmer. She also enjoys cooking with her young daughter.
