What does being a first-gen student mean to you?

Being a first-gen student means taking risks and stepping outside of your comfort zone. I use the word with a sense of pride because it wasn’t easy to get to where I am today. 

Why are you excited to be a first-gen mentor?

I am excited to be a first-gen mentor because as a first-gen student, I have had my fair share of mentors who have all helped me immensely throughout the college process and life in general. As a first-gen student, you are always learning and I think it is important to share that knowledge with others.
