What does being a first-gen student mean to you?

Being a first-gen college student is really important to me. I have a lot of pride as the first person in my family to go to college, and I know that I am making my family proud by being at Lafayette and working as hard as I can.

Why are you excited to be a first-gen mentor?

I am really looking forward to working with and getting to know other first-gen peer mentors! I am also excited about being in a position to help new first-gen students at Lafayette begin to navigate their way through college. This is an incredibly exciting time in all of our lives as students at Lafayette, and I am excited about the prospect of making the transition easier for students with whom I share similar stories to as easy as possible.
