what does being a first-gen student mean to you?

First-gen to me means believing that nothing is impossible if a person is committed. It means opening the doors of opportunities for the other members of my family, community, and country who wish to pursue their dreams and becoming a mentor who is being seen and followed by others.

why are you excited to be a first-gen mentor?

I am excited to be a first-gen mentor because I want to give back to my community. I want to help other first-gen students to feel that they belong to our community. This program will provide me an opportunity to learn and grow with other students.
